Second Quarter 2025

MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Hello INTMA Members,
Wow, summer is upon us, and we are almost halfway through 2025 already. Where does the time go? Hopefully your 2025 is off to a roaring start.
While 2025 is moving along, and a lot of NTMA member shops are busy, I think we are seeing a lot of uncertainty in the marketplace today. A lot of people are reporting increased quoting activity but lagging purchase activity. It seems that the ongoing tariff discussions have caused a fair amount of slowdown in many industries.
This is a time when our membership and our involvement in the NTMA can be most beneficial. Whether it be conversations among member shops about how to handle the economic uncertainties, or the NTMA sponsored webinars from the team at One Voice, the NTMA has resources that can help our members better navigate these uncertainties. While the overall economic projections for 2025 look positive, a lot of us would still like some input on how to navigate these uncertainties. Utilizing NTMA resources or input from other members will improve your chances at a more successful 2025.
While the economy shows some uncertainty, one thing is for certain, Indiana’s chapter of the NTMA has been busy. In February we hosted the INTMA High school machining contest at Vincennes University. We had a great event and saw a number of talented students at the contest. Jonathan Vennard and his VU crew did an outstanding job this year helping the INTMA with logistics and setting up the contest. This year we were able to host a 2-day event where students arrived on Friday evening for an evening of dinner and entertainment. Saturday was the contest and awards presentation. Visit the INTMA website to see this year’s winning students.
March’s events included a fantastic Pacer’s game and the ability to visit with other NTMA members. We had great seats to watch our Eastern Conference champions and I believe a fun night was had by all those that attended.
May in Indiana means the Indianapolis 500, and we added a Day At The Track event to the calendar this year. Our first event at the track in quite some time saw a good turnout of members and a chance to watch drivers and teams running 200 mph plus while hanging with other NTMA members in the suite.
In June we held our 3rd annual Clay Shoot event at the Indiana Gun Club. Congrats to the team from Major Tool & Machine which took home the trophy!
The latter part of the year will include the 2025 Indiana Manufacturing Suppliers Expo which will be held on August 21st. In partnership with the PMA, the Suppliers Expo is a chance for member companies to promote their capabilities, innovation, and uniqueness to key attendees. We’ve seen increasing attendance over the past years, and we plan to continue to grow this local trade show into a key marketing event for our members.
Our annual golf outing will be coming up on September 24th at The Links at Heartland Crossing. Last year’s outing let us provide $15,500 in scholarships to students who are pursuing a career in precision machining. We hope to see you there.
While we are all busy, and have our hands full running a shop, or dealing with today’s obstacles, I encourage you to set a little time aside for the NTMA. We all know the saying ‘you get out of it what you put into it”. The NTMA is no different, your involvement is the key to our success, and we appreciate the contributions from all our members. Let us know what we can do to better serve you and make our chapter better. We firmly believe the INTMA is here to help support, improve, and promote all of our members. Have a great summer and an even better year.
Thank you,
Scott Buie, Overton Industries, INTMA Chapter President

2025 INTMA Precision Machining Scholarship Awards
Meet four of Indiana's future machinists! These four students have been awarded scholarships from the INTMA Foundation for the 2025-26 school year.
The INTMA Scholarship is an annual tuition scholarship created by the INTMA to promote the tooling and machining industry and assist students desiring to advance their education and pursue a career in tooling and machining. Applicants should demonstrate a clearly defined career interest in the tooling and machining industry.
Successful scholarship applicants receive an annual award of up to $10,000 to cover tuition, books and tools expense for two semesters. Awards are for one academic year only. Recipients may re-apply for a second scholarship.
2025 INDIANA MANUFACTURING SUPPLIERS EXPO
Exhibit space is still available at this year's Expo. This is your chance to showcase what your company has to offer the Indiana manufacturing community while networking with others who contribute to our state's #1 industry. Booth space is $500.
This year we've added three, morning education sessions for our target attendees. Attendance for these sessions is $35 and includes lunch. Registration for Expo-only attendees is complimentary. Help us spread the word about this unique event!
